“We were feeling fenced in so we decided to break free of our boundaries and head west to the rugged terrain of Oregon to pursue our dream of making wine – just a nice bottle of wine to kick back with family and friends.” ~ Jody and David Lennon
Oregon Wine Month
May is Oregon Wine Month, and it is an opportunity to taste, explore, and celebrate. Experience the quality and diversity of Oregon wine through unique virtual events around Oregon. I am celebrating with Fences Winery, a small boutique red wine producer in Southern Oregon. Based in the rugged Rogue Valley, Fences is producing some of Oregon’s top Cabernet Sauvignons.
Fences Winery
The name of the winery is derived from Jody and David Lennon’s own personal story. Both attorneys living in New York City with three children and a hectic lifestyle, they were feeling fenced in. David had a lot of work on the west coast and they were both struggling, feeling like they were living in different time zones. Then suddenly an opportunity presented itself and they took a chance and moved to Oregon. A few years later, Jody and David are surrounded by beauty and are grateful for the quality of life they have found in making wine in Oregon.
Fences’ Cabernets have moved up the rank in a short period of time and today they are a tremendous success, winning awards, accolades, and high scores. Jody and David spend a lot of time in the vineyards and work on producing the best quality grapes – as good wines start with good grapes.

The 2015 Reserve is an elegant Cabernet Sauvignon that is big on the nose with aromas of black cherry, blueberries, and dark chocolate.
