“With its positive message and attributes, Sunny With a Chance of Flowers is a mindfully made wine that makes you feel good inside and out.” ~ Heidi Scheid, Executive Vice President, Scheid Family Wines
I have always believed in moderation. Being a wine lover many people don’t realize that I drink wine mindfully and in moderation. So when I was asked to taste Sunny With a Chance of Flowers with Executive Vice President of Scheid Family Wines, Heidi Scheid, I was highly intrigued. The wines are positive, cheerful and the perfect choice when you are looking for moderation in the wine glass. Sunny With a Chance of Flowers are sustainably produced wines with zero sugar, only 85 calories per glass, low alcohol and most importantly they are delicious. Sound too good to be true? Try for yourself. The wines are cheerful, fun and delightful.
Everyone is doing dry January, but I know that is not the case for most of my readers. Why do dry January when you have wines like Sunny With a Chance of Flowers? You must consider “try January”. Not all indulgences are sinful and these wines are the perfect example. This is a fun label that is a great weekday wine, something you can enjoy any day of the week.

There are very few domestically made low alcohol wines, so Heidi along with her innovation team came up with Sunny With a Chance of Flowers. The wines are low in alcohol around 9% ABV, this is the ideal level of alcohol to achieve great taste along with keeping with the theme of moderation and mindful drinking. Making low alcohol wines require expertise and care. Sunny wines are made with grapes that are harvested to full flavor ripeness. This delivers wines with great flavors and nice acidity. They ferment the wine to full alcohol, and then remove the alcohol through reverse osmosis. The wine goes through a gentle filtration system over multiple passes to reduce the alcohol, which in turn reduces the calories.

Heidi wanted to make a healthier wine that tasted great. The wines are mindfully and sustainably made so that they are good for the world we live in. The Scheid Family Wine estate vineyards are located in Monterey, California where the vines enjoy coastal sunshine and crisp sea breezes.
Sunny Wines have a broad range of offerings with a Syrah-based rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. I had the opportunity to try four of the wines and they were all incredibly delicious. The rosé was lively, crisp and refreshing with notes of wild strawberries and watermelon. It will pair perfectly with a light salad or grilled salmon. The Sauvignon Blanc was one of my favorites, it is light, fresh and cheerful with hints of guava and pineapple. Make sure you try the Chardonnay. The Sunny Chardonnay is all about sunshine in a glass paired with good vibes. You won’t think the Pinot Noir is low calories and low alcohol. It is a sheer joy with notes of pomegranate and blackberries.

As we begin the New Year and consider a healthy lifestyle, these wines make perfect sense without any sacrifice in taste or enjoyment. Sunny With a Chance of Flowers is perfect for the poolside, with a BBQ or for a picnic. It is a wine about optimism, positivity and hope. The wines send a perfect message in this post COVID world we are living in. Sunny With a Chance of Flowers are wines that will make you feel good on the inside and out.
