Italian fashion, glamour, wine, art, tradition and history are all sealed inside a charming new bottle of rosé that was just released by two Italian icons; Donnafugata and Dolce & Gabbana. Italy’s iconic fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has joined forces with renowned Sicilian winemaker Donnafugata to design a label for a new luxurious Sicilian rosé. The collaboration gives life to “Rosa”, a wine with a fruity and floral personality.
Donnafugata and Dolce & Gabbana Rosa
The name “Rosa” was chosen precisely to emphasize the distinctive color that makes the wine so unique. This selected production is characterized by an original blend of two native grapes which are among the most important of the island’s winemaking tradition; Nerello Mascalese and Nocera.
Rosa – A Unique Siclian Blend
Nerello Mascalese is grown on volcanic soils at high altitudes. It distinctly expresses minerality and floral components. The grape variety lends itself very well to the production of rosé wines which are characterized by their pale pink color due to the low level of anthocyanins present in the skin.
Nocera is the other component of this wine. It is an ancient almost forgotten variety with a prestigious past. After years of experimentation that proved it’s excellent potential, Donnafugata plant Nocera on its hillside vineyards. Nocera was chosen because it reaches an ideal sugar maturation with a high level of acidity; the result is a fragrant and persistent wine, with a captivating fruity bouquet.
Rosa – A Historic And Artistic Label
Dolce & Gabbana was fascinated by this unmistakable color and hence chose the name Rosa to emphasize its unique personality. Dolce & Gabbana’s creativity has taken up the challenge of telling the story of this prestigious wine The label draws inspirations from the iconic Sicilian cart, which represents the island’s craftsmanship, culture and tradition the world over.
Rosa – Its All In The Taste
The Donnafugata & Dolce & Gabbana Rosa has a delicate pale pink hue with an aromatic bouquet that is elegant and graceful. The perfumed nose has aromas of jasmine and strawberries. The palate has layers of complexity with nice minerality coming from the Nerrelo Mascalese. The wine finishes with persistence and length.
The Donnafugata & Dolce & Gabbana Rosa makes a unique and glamorous gift, that depicts the tradition and culture of Italian life. Wine will be released in the USA in September 2020.
