Languedoc-Roussillon is the true south of France, with 300 days of sunshine, endless blue skies and miles of sandy beaches along the Mediterranean. An area with a rich history of food, wine and culture, immersed within its fishing villages, saltwater lagoons, sprawling vineyards and quaint villages.
It is here in the South of France that Gerard Bertrand has invoked the Art de Vivre, a French expression that means “the art of living”. Gerard says the art of living for the French means savoring the richness and beauty of day to day to life in the South of France. The richness comes from enchanting sunsets, oysters on the beach, locally prepared meals, and a glass of the luxurious Clos du Temple Rosé. There is no better way to celebrate the simple things in life – Art de Vivre.
The Clos du Temple Rosé signifies the art of living. Crafted by Gerard Bertrand in the South of France in Cabrières. Cabrières is the birthplace of rose winé. Clos du Temple Rosé is a celebration of Art de Vivre, it is one of the most exclusive and luxurious still rosés in the world. It is also the most expensive rosé(SRP $180) in the world. It is a blend of five grapes (Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Viognier and Mourvèdre) grown on vines as old as 80 years. Clos du Temple Rosé is intended to age as gracefully as a bottle of an elegant red wine.
Gerard Bertrand is elevating the perception and quality of rosés from the South of France. Gérard’s vision for the rosé is to create a Grand Cru rosé from the Languedoc. Located in the heart of the region, Clos du Temple Rosé is crafted from the historic terroir of Cabrières, where eight hectares of vines are divided into a mosaic of seven small plots, farmed following biodynamic principles. If you only drink one rosé wine this year, it must be the Gerard Bertrand Clos du Temple Rosé. This is the grand cru of all rosés. An elegant rosé that is made with great care and attention.
The temple theme has inspired the elegant bottle design, with its square base and pyramidical punt rising to a circular shoulder that symbolizes the cosmos and the principles of biodynamics. This unique blend is designed to mirror a temple: Grenache acts as the foundations, old vine Cinsault and Syrah add columns and walls with sublime touches of Mourvèdre and Viognier as the dome. Meanwhile, the terroir is evoked by an elegant band of gold showing the undulating hills that surround Clos du Temple.
Clos du Temple has great vibrancy and energy. The wine has more texture and body than your typical rosé. This rosé is a gastronomic rosé that will pair delectably with food(especially lobster and salmon). In the glass shines a pale pink rose hue with delicate aromas of apricot, peach and white flowers. The creamy, silky texture on the palate, hints at fine oak aging and battonage. There is bright acidity and minerality with hints of delicate tannins that leave a long memorable finish.
