If you are looking to give a thoughtful gift to a wine lover in your life, use this list to make an impression. These suggestions are great for stocking stuffers, or a bottle to take to a special holiday dinner, or something special for your boss who happens to be a wine aficionado. This list is all you need, here you will find wines from around the world, in a range of styles and prices. If you are a procrastinator, then wine is a perfect last-minute gift, as it is always available.
When buying wine as a gift you have many choices with varietals, styles, countries or regions. This list is encompassing of wines from around the globe, whether you are looking for sparkling wine, whites, rosés or reds, there is something here to please the wine lovers on your holiday gift list.
Wines For Stocking Stuffers ($14-$19)
1. Val D’Oca Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Millesimato (SRP $14)
When buying Prosecco, buy only the best. The “Prosecco Millesimato Val D’Oca” is a wine made from 100% of the most Superior Prosecco di Valdobbiadene D.O.C.G. after careful selection and pressing of the best grapes of the year. The perfect sparkling wine for the holidays with aromas of white wildflowers and notes of green apple.
2. CARO Aruma Malbec 2017 (SRP $15)
The ideal wine for your Malbec lover. For its tenth anniversary, Bodegas CARO chose to celebrate the grape that has come to symbolize Argentina’s vineyards by selecting a pure Malbec. “ARUMA” means the “night” in the language of the Quechua, the native Indians of the Mendoza region. The name is chosen because it is the intense darkness of the nights in the Andes and the pure mountain air that give the wines the rich, authentic character of their terroir. A wonderful story to share while gifting.
3. Piper Sonoma Brut (SRP $15)
This is the ideal bubbly to gift the wine lover that loves sparkling wines. What makes this a great gift, is that this Brut is handcrafted using Méthode Traditionnelle, offering great value at $15. Primarily composed of Chardonnay, with some Pinot Noir, this bubbly is dry and fresh, with a long elegant finish, possessing crisp citrus flavors with hints of green apple, and brioche.

6. Bela Ribera del Duero 2017 (SRP $19)
If you have a Spanish wine lover on your list, this is the ideal gift. This is a single-vineyard wine from a new project in Ribera del Duero CUNE. Bela is produced from selected grapes manually harvested from their own vineyards. The nose shows complex aromas that are perfectly assembled black fruit. As it crosses the palate is very fleshy and creamy, with nice tannins.
Wines for Holiday Gatherings (SRP $20-$25)
This is a lovely rosé with California origins. Reminiscent of Provençe, the 2018 Malene Rosé has a purity of fruit with notes of white peach, citrus, and wet stones. The wine blooms on the palate with flavors of ripe stone fruit, cantaloupe, and tangy citrus. The wine’s texture evokes its California origins with opulence, plenty of mid-palate texture and an elegant finish.
8. Berne Inspiration Côtes de Provence Rosé 2018 (SRP $23)
This bottle is not only a beautiful presentation for a gift but what is on the inside is quite special. The Berne Inspiration Rose is a textbook Provençal rosé that is the wine for the tried and true fan of the best wines of the region. A beautifully textured wine that lends body and intensity to the color and nose. Dry in the finish with flavors of fresh strawberry, Provençal lavender and picked basil.
9. The HESS Collection Estate Grown Napa Chardonnay 2017 (SRP $22)
The Hess Collection wines are classic Napa. The winery is family-owned, sustainably farmed and dedicated to reflecting a true sense of place. This Estate Chardonnay offers aromas of jasmine and citrus zest, which harmonize with delicious flavors of melon, stone fruits, clove, and baking spice.
10. Szigeti Pinot Noir Rose Brut Sekt Austria 2016 (SRP $25)
This wine is sure to please the wine geek and wine lover, a bubbly sekt from Austria. Szigeti was part of the new wave of Austrian sparkling wine producers in the 1990s who focused on high-quality, traditional method Sekt. This sparkler is a brilliant salmon color with red gold highlights. Aromas of strawberries and red cherries carry through to the palate, which finishes with lively acidity and a delicate mousse.
11. Peju Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2018 (SRP $25)
This wine will appeal to the New World wine lover. Peju is one of the classic Napa Valley wineries in the heart of Rutherford with prominent neighbors( Robert Mondavi, Inglenook and Beaulieu). This aromatic and crisp Sauvignon Blanc has a lovely nose of pineapple and orange blossom. The palate is bright with notes of apricot, tangerine, and nectarine with refreshing acidity.
12. Nik Weis St. Urbans-Hof Bockstein Kabinett Riesling Mosel 2018 (SRP $25)
St. Urbans-Hof has been making wine for generations. Their deep respect for the traditions of the region remains, as ever, the guarantee for the quality of their wines. They employ traditional methods of wine growing and winemaking which have been used in the Mosel and Saar Valleys for centuries. This Riesling is racy and pure with intense minerality coupled with green apple and pear flavors. It has a steely finish with white stones and dry herb notes.
13. Handpicked Regional Selections Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2016 (SRP $25)

15. Silverado Sangiovese Rosato Napa Valley 2018 (SRP $30)
The Silverado Rosato is perfect for the holidays, with a full-body from Sangiovese, makes it an ideal winter rosé. Attractive with floral aromatics amidst a light kiss of sweetness. Ripe strawberries and juicy watermelon greet you and are followed by a bright peach acidity.

17. Metz Road Chardonnay Riverview Vineyard Monterey 2017 (SRP $30)
This Chardonnay is for the one on your list that appreciates small boutique wineries. Metz Road specializes in small-lot, single-vineyard Chardonnays from their Riverview Estate Vineyard. Their mantra is gentle handling and minimal intervention, allowing the distinctive terroir of a single vineyard site to shine. The wines are impressive.

A Sonoma Sauvignon Blanc at its best. The 2018 Chalk Hill Estate Sauvignon Blanc captures the exotic, vibrant and complex fruit characters of their estate-grown grapes, delivering aromas of honeydew melon, lemongrass, lime zest, and jasmine.
19. Catena Alta Historic Rows Chardonnay Mendoza 2016 (SRP $33)
A Chardonnay for those in pursuit of cool climate wines. The Catena family began making wine in Mendoza in 1902. Today Dr. Laura Catena is in pursuit of world-class quality from the family’s high altitude vineyards. The palate shows rich and concentrated ripe pear, apple and apricot flavors with a light note of minerality.
20. Dutchers Crossing Proprietor’s Reserve Dry Creek Zinfandel 2016 (SRP $33)
Debra Mathy is the owner and proprietor of Dutcher Crossing. She is looking to create a sense of place with her wines. Dry Creek is where Zinfandel finds its best expression and this one of the top Zinfandel coming from Dry Creek. The palate is round with notes of plum, berries, and cocoa. It has velvety tannins with a smooth long finish.

21. Gary Farrell Russian River Pinot Noir 2017 (SRP $45)

24. Henschke Henry’s Seven Barossa 2016 (SRP $48)
Henschke is one of Australia’s leading winemakers and grape growers. A Rhone red blend, the wine has a round, supple palate that is filled with juicy blue and red fruits, spiced plum, licorice and notes of crushed tarragon, with beautifully textured svelte tannins and a long, peppery finish.
25. Chalk Hill Estate Red Blend 2016 (SRP $45)
The Chalk Hill Red Blend is a serious wine for collectors. The palate is rich and savory, with layered flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate, and leather with oak influences of vanilla and toast. A wine to drink now or cellar-worthy.
